About Blue Dasher Crafts

Welcome to Blue Dasher Crafts!

Blue Dasher Crafts by Daughter of Maat is a vegan-friendly shop where you’ll find handmade gemstone jewelry, as well as crochet accessories including gadget cozies, scarves and baby clothes. All of our crocheted items are made with either 100% organic cotton, recycled cotton or 100% acrylic yarns. We do not use wool or any other yarns made from animal fur.

We also care deeply about the Mother Earth. All of our packaging is recycled. We use boxes and packaging that has come to us via packages from friends and family (or amazon orders). Nothing goes to waste!

Our products are designed to be reusable and give you years of enjoyment. Most crochet items are able to be machine washed and tumbled dry, but some more delicate items should be hand washed. Be sure to check the listing for washing instructions!

All items are made in a clean, smoke free, pet-friendly home. While we do love our pets, all of our products and materials are kept in an area that is off limits to our furry friends (despite their constant protesting!). We also wash and dry your items before we ship them. Except for jewelry and photography, of course!

Being in the medical field has made me a bit OCD when it comes to cleanliness. Since our jewelry is handmade, prior to shipping the ear wires of our earrings and the clasps on our bracelets and necklaces are wiped down with alcohol to remove any oils that may be left behind during the creation process. This helps to prevent the formation of bacteria during the shipping process. We also ship all jewelry in lavender and sage herbs to prevent your jewelry from picking up any negative energy on its way to you and both herbs have natural antibacterial properties. Plus, it smells good!

  1. Mel, this is awesome! How weird, we both started writing on Hubpages in January 2012. And I had no idea you were a Vegan! I’m considering doing that in the future…right now though, I’m working on becoming a vegetarian. I’m heading over to your vegan blog right now! 🙂

    1. Oh wow, you started in January 2012 too?? Great minds think alike huh? lol Yep, we’re vegan, we started with vegetarianism first though, it’s much easier. Surprisingly I didn’t have any problems with cravings (except for chocolate) so the transition was very easy for me. My hubby on the other hand is a different story. I did it mainly for health reasons which I think made it easier, Greg did it because I did and for ethical reasons. Eating animals just didn’t sit right with him. Me either actually, but it was also very detrimental to my health. I’m doing a post on my transition this week on Vegan Harvest, and it will discuss some of the pitfalls I fell into. If you’re just starting on the vegetarian path, you should watch the video Forks over Knives. The Engine 2 Diet is also very helpful in getting your kitchen ready for veganism!

    1. Thanks Cyndi! I think we’ve hit a smooth patch of road for the time being, and I plan on enjoying it, let me tell ya!! But like all things in life, it won’t last. But this time, I’ll be prepared for the bumps!! lol Thanks so much for stopping by!
